At Dr. Miller's Family Tree Medical Center, Dr. Miller, ND works with couples to identify obstacles to a healthy pregnancy in both men and women. Some possible causes addressed include thyroid disease, PCOS, elevated prolactin, shortened luteal phase, insufficient ovarian production of progesterone resulting in 1st trimester miscarriage, cervical mucus abnormalities, insufficient pre-ovulatory estrogen peak, low sperm count, and other sperm abnormalities.
Dr. Miller will make a comprehensive assessment including appropriate testing to determine underlying issues. Testing may include hormone levels, iron studies, nutrient testing (i.e. B12, B6, Mg, folic acid, homocysteine), heavy metal testing, sperm analysis, celiac panel, and some DNA testing (i.e. for Fragile X Syndrome /FMR1 premutation associated with both increased risk of recurrent miscarriages and premature ovarian insufficiency). Treatments may include supplemental
bio-identical hormones, therapeutic isolated nutrients (orthomolecular medicine), botanical medicine, hydrotherapy, solvent and/or heavy metal detoxification, and both diet and lifestyle counseling.
Since fertility can be a very complex area, Dr. Miller supports a team approach, and therefore is happy to work with a patient's other professional health care providers to ensure the best outcome.
If you are having difficulty conceiving or just wanting to achieve optimal health for you and your baby, call to schedule an appointment with Dr. Miller, ND (415) 795-3347.
